Reviewing the signs and symptoms to determine if you have Candida Albicans yeast infection Overgrowth.

Candida Albicans yeast infection Overgrowth, Candida Overgrowth (CO) symptoms are so numerous and seemingly unrelated that they can be confusing to both doctor and patient. The majority of people who have CO do not realize they have it until they become seriously ill. Why? Because candida yeast not only steals nutrients from the food that you eat, it then poisons the tissues with waste material containing over 75 known toxins. Candida albicans is linked, directly or indirectly, to the following list of conditions and symptoms. A “symptom” is an outward sign that points to a deeper problem.

Review the 80 likely symptoms listed below to see if any apply to you. Give yourself ONE POINT for each of those which you have had persistently (for a month or longer, either currently or at anytime in the past).

~ Self Test: http://www.nationalcandidacenter.com/candida-self-exams/ … Spit Test.
The best time to do this test is the first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up. Before you rinse, spit, or put anything in your mouth, go get a glass of water (in a clear glass). Now build up a bunch of saliva (just mouth saliva, do not cough up anything) and spit it into the glass of water. Observe what happens.
My Body Fluids The saliva will float. That is OK and normal. If within 15 minutes you see thin projections extending downward into the water, it is a positive sign for candida. The projections may look like hair, or small strings, like a jelly fish or spider legs, moving down into the water from the saliva floating on the top. Other positive indications might be very “cloudy” saliva that will sink to the bottom of the glass within a few minutes or particles that slowly sink or suspend below the saliva glob. What you are seeing are colonies of yeast which band together to form the strings.
LEAKY GUT ~ CO Dysbiosis
It is estimated that over 30 million people in the U.S, predominantly women, suffer from the multiple effects of an imbalance in the gastrointestinal system.
The gut has three primary functions:
~ Digestion of foods and conversion into vitamins
~ Absorption of nutrients
~ Prevention of toxins and pathogens from entering the body
When the Gut Is Healthy
Approximately 500 species of bacteria, as well as many species of yeast and other organisms, live in the human gastrointestinal tract and make up the “gut flora.” These “friendly” bacteria are vital for good digestion and the health of the intestines in general, and mostly have names beginning with “Lactobacillus” or “Bifidobacteria,” which denotes the class of bacteria they belong to. You may have noticed food products like yogurt and acidophilus milk that contain these bacteria. It is becoming more common for them to be added, just as vitamins and minerals are frequently added to breakfast cereals, for example.
When the gut flora is in a healthy balance it is called “orthobiosis,” which is a term introduced in the early 1900s by the great microbiologist Elie Metchnikoff. When our gut is out of balance we are said to have “dysbiosis.” Metchnikoff thought dysbiosis so concerning that he coined the expression “Death begins in the GUT!”
What Can Go Wrong?
Not all of the hundreds of species of organisms that make up the gut flora are “friendly.” There are also a number of organisms that don’t provide the body with any benefits, or do so only when their numbers are kept low by competing friendly bacteria. Such microorganisms include coliform bacteria (E.coli, etc.), yeasts/fungus, parasites, and bacteroides.
Illness can occur when the amount of friendly bacteria is reduced and the other organisms are able to increase their numbers and become the majority. There are a number of factors that can disrupt the balance of organisms in the intestines and lead to overgrowth of the less desirable species.
The most important factors are:
~ Antibiotic use (abuse)
~ Use of the birth control pill
~ Use of other hormones, especially immunosuppressants like steroids
~ Diet, especially one high in sugar
~ Alcohol
~ Stress
Conditions often caused by dysbiosis include Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acne, food allergies, Chronic Fatigue and depression. But you can help repopulate the good bacteria by eating foods that contain natural, healthy bacterias, including yogurt and acidophilus milk. You also can take an acidophilus supplement and something called Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), which is a plant-based supplement that serves as a “super food” for these good bacteria.
Gut dysbiosis can lead to changes in the lining of the bowel that increases the permeability of the intestine, resulting in leaky gut syndrome.
Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome / Intestinal Permeability
Symptoms include:

abdominal pain ~ asthma ~ chronic joint pain ~ chronic muscle pain ~ confusion ~ fuzzy or foggy thinking ~ gas ~ indigestion ~ mood swings ~ nervousness ~ poor immunity ~ recurrent vaginal infections ~ skin rashes ~ diarrhea ~ bed-wetting ~ recurrent bladder infections ~ poor memory ~ shortness of breath ~ constipation ~ bloating ~ aggressive behavior ~ anxiety ~ poor libido ~ fatigue ~ and just feeling “toxic”.
Leaky gut syndrome is associated with the following conditions:
Bloating and weight gain ~ Chronic fatigue syndrome ~ Celiac disease ~ Crohn’s disease ~ Environmental illness ~ Hives ~ Acne ~ Allergies ~ Inflammatory joint disease / arthritis ~ Intestinal infections ~ Pancreatic insufficiency ~ Ulcerative colitis ~ Giardia ~ Eczema ~ Psoriasis ~ Food allergies and sensitivities ~ Liver dysfunction ~ Rheumatoid arthritis ~ Irritable bowel syndrome
When the natural yeast or fungi found in the body grows out of control, it can result in a condition called Candidiasis, an infection caused by a species of Candida fungi, especially Candida albicans. These fungi are found almost everywhere in the environment, and some may live harmlessly along with the abundant “native” species of bacteria that normally colonize the mouth, gastrointestinal tract and vagina. The growth of Candida is usually controlled by the presence of the native bacteria and by the body’s immune defenses. If the population of native bacteria is decreased, especially by antibiotics, or if the immune defenses are weakened by illness malnutrition, or certain medications (corticosteroids or anticancer drugs), Candida fungi can multiply enough to cause symptoms by spewing many toxins into the bloodstream and liver. It can affect many different parts of the body, causing either localized infections or overwhelming illness, depending on the patient and his or her underlying health.
Candidiasis can usually be found in exposed and most part of the body, such as the mouth and throat (called thrush), the vagina (usually called a yeast infection), and in the case of children, as diaper rash. Candidiasis can overwhelm the whole body, and in some people can result in not only stomach distress such as bloating and gas, but also in fatigue, depression, anxiety, skin eruptions, and immune system malfunction.

Autism – Dietary Treatments (2013 update)
Posted on April 2, 2013
[image: autismrainbow] In 2002 I attended my first DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) conference. Here in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, I sat in the back of a room filled with 1000 parents and about 100 physicians and providers, and I had tears rolling down my face as I realized we had poisoned a generation. My own children have been affected, to various degrees, by my own ignorance, and our unique genetic vulnerability. As parents we want the best for our children. We look to our society and governmental agencies and academies to protect us by having appropriate regulations. I am sad to report that the very institutions that you would think are there to protect us from environmental toxins and industry practices that would harm our children, are either turning a blind eye, or worse yet, are
infiltrated with industry funded experts who can tilt the agenda and distort the facts.
Autism is just the tip of the iceberg. For every autistic child there are hundreds with ADD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, developmental delays, hyper-sensitivities etc., all now epidemic and “unexplained”. The explanation is toxins, toxins, and more toxins. We are adding toxins to those who are genetically vulnerable (we all are vulnerable but some of us more than others). The toxins at the top of the list are Aspartame, tobacco, heavy metals, pesticides, BPA, (bisphenol found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins). The topic of this blog is not the causes but what you can do nutritionally once you are faced with autism or any neurological challenge.
The summary linked below outlines many areas that deserve a try if your child is suffering:
http://autism. asu.edu/Docs/ 2013/Summary_ of_Treatments_ for_Autism- 2013.pdf
*The keys in this summary are:*
1. *Eat healthy* (organic, no GMO, no plastics, no aspartame).
2. *Test for food sensitivities* and avoid foods your child is sensitive to (usually at least gluten and dairy).
3. Certain *vitamins* and nutrients are key. Everyone in North America needs more *Vitamin D*. See the list they provide for dietary requirements and aim for the upper limit.
4. *Omega-3* fish oil is beneficial.
5. *Enzymes* to help with digestion can be helpful.
6. *Carnitine* is a vitamin that help get energy into the cell. Most children can take 125-250 mg twice a day. Liquid forms may need a prescription.
7. *Melatonin* can help with the immune system, should generally be given before bed, and can help with sleep. Dosage is 1/2 to 3 mg before bed.
8. *Thyroid* function should be assessed. Low thyroid function is very detrimental to brain development and energy. Have them check *TSH, free T3 and free T4*.
Parents, it is absolutely up to you to keep good notes and records of what you try, when, and what you feel happened. As a physician who helps many families, I cannot possibly remember what I have tried on each child. You should keep pushing me, if I’m your doctor, or your physician if I am not, and say “this is what I have tried, this is what helped, what else can we try?”
Blessings, Dr. Paul

ADH1 to Methanol to Formaldehyde

Posted in ASPARTAME tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:57 pm by PCOSLady

PCOS Lady:
Diabetics and most people are having their ADH1 levels checked yearly… This post explains what the ADH1 actually is… This is scary and may scare you straight! I hope you think twice about smoking and eating or drinking anything with aspartame in it…
~ “YOU” are choosing the rate you will die… Be it fast or slow…
~ Knowing all this, ask; How much does your health care professional care about you?
ADH1 to Methanol to Formaldehyde
Table 5.2 is the key chart — ADH1 enzyme at high levels in 20 tissues in body and fetus makes methanol into formaldehyde right inside cells, initiating over 20 human diseases, with full text references, WC Monte paradigm: Rich Murray 2013.03.21

A liter of diet drink gives the same methanol (wood alcohol) as the smoke from a pack of cigarettes, 60 mg — methanol has a half-life in the human bloodstream of 3 hours, showing that its elimination is slow, while it reaches every part of the body and the fetus every minute.
Methanol is actually less toxic than ethanol, except when it goes easily into cells that also happen to have high levels of free floating ADH1 enzyme, in 19 specific human tissues, including inner walls of blood vessels in the brain and eye, as well as in the rods and cones of the retina — the methanol is made quickly into free floating formaldehyde inside these cells, where it naturally wrecks havoc, interfering with all biochemistry, just as in its well known uses for embalming and sterilizing medical tools.
The resulting stew of formaldehyde modified proteins activates the inflammation process of the immune system, producing complex evolving pussy lesions — brain in Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis, inner walls of blood vessels in atherosclerosis, skin fibroblasts in lupus, pancreas in diabetes 2, retina in macular degeneration, joint fibroblasts in rheumatoid arthritis
Methylation of DNA and RNA leads to cell dysfunction and death, many later cancers, and birth defects, spina bifida, autism, preterm birth, Fetal Alcohol Sydrome.
Two key ATP enzymes are impaired in mitochrondria, shutting down aerobic energy metabolism, leading to reduced metabolism and anaerobic buildup of lactic acid, resulting in acidosis.
Table 5.2: Target Organs of Methanol Toxicity (Bad ADH1 Sites)
pages 60-1 “While Science Sleeps” textbook 2012 January, 236 pages,
Chapter 5 “The Silent Battle That Turns Methanol into Disease” —
The key chart that summarizes how ADH1 enzyme in high levels in 20 tissues in body and fetus makes methanol into formaldehyde right inside cells, initiating over 20 human diseases:
7 ADH1 references (listed below) for 16 tissue types (some tissues have several diseases) 218, 220, 221, 357, 503, 514, 563, 637, 638, 640;
18 target tissues for formaldehyde harm;
Over 20 specific modern novel “diseases of civilization”;
Each with huge growth in incidence in the last 35 years — 25 references;
U shaped curve (those who never drink ethanol get twice the harm for 6 of these diseases as those who drink once daily, since ethanol is a potent antidote that prevents ADH1 from making methanol into formaldehyde) — 8 references;
18 diseases from smoking cigarettes (a strong methanol source) — 24 references;
13 diseases from using aspartame — 22 references;
Monte didn’t have enough room on this 2-page figure to include the suite of 12 of the same symptoms and tissues from cases of often fatal chronic and acute methanol toxicity, page 133, with copious references.
This is a work in progress, highly incomplete, as this is an introductory update on the status of an breakthrough paradigm in toxicology, that presents multiple strong lines of evidence, allowing any intelligent layperson to come to their own decisions about methanol and resulting chronic formaldehyde toxicity diseases for specific high ADH1 sites, ranging from breast cancer to diabetes 2.
Table 5.2: target organs of methanol toxicity (bad ADH1 sites)
~ brain, vascular tissue, tau protein — Alzheimer’s myelin basic protein — multiple sclerosis
vascular lining — headache, seizures, glioblastoma cancer
~ eye, retina, ADH1 in rods and cones — macular degeneration
~ blood vessels, intima and media (inner walls), LDL low density lipoproteins — atherosclerosis
~ skin, fibroblasts — skin cancer, dermatitis, lupus (SLE systemic lupus erythematosus)
~ breast, epithelial (milk ducts) — adenocarcinoma
~ kidney, epithelial tubule — kidney cancer, poor function
~ bone, synovial fibroblast — rheumatoid arthritis
~ pancreas, islets of Langerhans — reduced insulin, diabetes 2
~ lung, fibroblasts — COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, adenocarcinoma
Fetus, no ADH1 in placenta,
DNA methylation — terata (birth defects), autism
liver, lung, kidney harm — preterm delivery
Liver, highest ADH1 in body, many targets — hepatic cancer
“While Science Sleeps” textbook, 2012 January:
“Methanol travels easily to breast tissue and has been found in human milk. 219
The cells that produce milk within the breast, cells prone to develop
the most common of breast cancers, adenocarcinoma 358, contain high
levels of ADH1 enzyme, 358 allowing methanol’s conversion to
formaldehyde [ inside the cells as free floating acidic hydrated
formaldehyde, highly reactive on both sides of molecule ].
Mammary epithelial cells have no way to protect themselves from
formaldehyde 216 — no means to render it harmless.
They, unlike other breast tissue, contain no aldehyde dehydrogenase
enzyme (ADH 3) that could transform formaldehyde into the
non-carcinogenic formic acid. 216
Of particular interest are recent findings implicating ADH as playing
a pivotal role in the formation of breast cancer, documenting a
greater incidence of the disease in women with higher levels of ADH1
activity in their breasts. 357″

Many of these diseases, including diabetes 2, are twice as harmful for
those who never drink ethanol, compared to those who have just one
standard drink a day, due to the inhibition by ethanol of formation of
formaldehyde from methanol by ADH1.
Many people are protected by methanol in their blood from fermentation by bacteria in the GI tract.
High levels of ADH1:
~ liver, kidney, lung;
~ intima and media (inner walls) of blood vessels, notably base of brain and retina;
~ rods and cones in retina;
~ purkinje cells of vermis in cerebellum;
~ islets of Langerhans in pancreas;
~ fibroblasts in skin, bone marrow, synovial tissues in joints;
~ milk ducts of breast;
Men have several times more ADH1 in their GI tract than women, so less methanol gets into the blood to attack other tissues, so now four times as many women get multiple sclerosis as men.
Sources of methanol (wood alcohol):
~ smoke from cigarettes, wood, peat;
~ aspartame, and chewing gums;
~ some dark wines and liquors;
~ fresh tomatoes, black currants;
~ unfresh fruits juices vegetables cut up and preserved wet at room temperature in sealed cans jars plastic containers (including home preserves and jugs of apple cider by farming families);
~ jams jellies marmalades;
~ smoked fermented spoiled foods;
~ some fresh coffees;
~ approved food additive dimethyl dicarbonate;
~ vehicle fuels;
Medical chemical mortuary facilities, home and industry solvents, factories for processed wood and paper products — formaldehyde heated to 150 deg C releases methanol…

Aspartame Pathway
By Dr. Mercola … February 18, 2013
The Coca-Cola Company Beverage Institute for Health & Wellness (an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one), has released an “aspartame safety” page that is described as a “resource for professionals.”
The only problem is that it claims aspartame is safe for use by nearly all populations, except for those born with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria (PKU). In reality, research suggests this artificial sweetener may be implicated in health risks ranging from cancer to seizures and even death.
Methanol in Fruits and Veggies Differs From Methanol in Aspartame…
Aspartame is primarily made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. The phenylalanine has been synthetically modified to carry a methyl group, which provides the majority of the sweetness.
That phenylalanine methyl bond, called a methyl ester, is very weak, which allows the methyl group on the phenylalanine to easily break off and form methanol. This is in sharp contrast to naturally occurring methanol found in certain fruits and vegetables, where it is firmly bonded to pectin, allowing the methanol to be safely passed through your digestive tract.
(However, the methyl alcohol can be liberated by putrefying bacteria that spoil fruits and vegetables and in fact methanol is an indication of spoilage in fruits and vegetables.
Dr. Monte recommends cutting off all spoiled parts before eating your fruits and veggies. I believe most people avoid eating spoiled produce. If not, it would be a wise move. It’s the putrefaction that liberates the methyl alcohol.)
Methanol acts as a Trojan horse; it’s carried into susceptible tissues in your body, like your brain and bone marrow, where the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) enzyme converts it into formaldehyde, which wreaks havoc with sensitive proteins and DNA.
All other animals have a protective mechanism that allows methanol to be broken down into harmless formic acid, but according to aspartame expert Dr. Woodrow Monte, there’s a major biochemical problem with methanol in humans, because of the difference in how it’s metabolized compared to in all other animals. This is why toxicology testing on animals is a flawed model. It doesn’t fully apply to humans.
Symptoms from Methanol Poisoning

Symptoms from methanol poisoning are many, and include headaches, ear buzzing, dizziness, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, weakness, vertigo, chills, memory lapses, numbness and shooting pains in the extremities, behavioral disturbances, and neuritis. The most well known problems from methanol poisoning are vision problems including misty vision, progressive contraction of visual fields, blurring of vision, obscuration of vision, retinal damage, and blindness. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen that causes retinal damage, interferes with DNA replication and may cause birth defects.
A Historical Timeline of Aspartame
Aspartame is the number one source of side-effect complaints to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), with over 10,000 complaints filed ( http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/08/03/just-how-bad-is-aspartame.aspx ) and over 91 symptoms documented that are related to its consumption. With that many reports of adverse effects, it’s hard to believe aspartame is still allowed on the market. Unfortunately, aspartame’s approval was and still is largely a political affair. Many readers have long forgotten what the 60-Minutes’ correspondent Mike Wallace stated in his 1996 report on aspartame – available to view in this 2009 article – (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/01/10/aspartame-brain-cancer-and-the-fda.aspx ) that the approval of aspartame was “the most contested in FDA history.”
Aspartame Timeline
~ July 1, 1983 … Liquid aspartame is unstable, when stored above 85 degrees fahrenheit it breaks down in to DKP and formaldehyde, both being known toxins…
The Most Dangerous Food Additive on the Market: Are You Being Affected?
Unfortunately, aspartame toxicity is not well known by physicians, despite its frequency.
If you do experience side effects from aspartame, please report it to the FDA (if you live in the United States) without delay. It’s easy to make a report — just go to the FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinator page, ( http://www.fda.gov/Safety/ReportaProblem/ConsumerComplaintCoordinators/default.htm ) find the phone number for your state, and make a call reporting your reaction.
Are You Addicted to Artificial Sweeteners?
In order to break free, be sure you address the emotional component to your food cravings using a tool such as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). ( http://eft.mercola.com/ ) More than any traditional or alternative method I have used or researched, EFT works to overcome food cravings and helps you reach dietary success. If diet soda is the culprit for you, be sure to check out Turbo Tapping, (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/05/04/turbo-tapping.aspx ) which is an extremely effective and simple tool to get rid of your soda addiction in a short amount of time.

Aspartame and Diabetes – Is it a bad combination?
So what is the concern over aspartame and diabetes? The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is recommending and accepts the FDA’s conclusion that the consumption of Aspartame is safe and can be part of a healthy diet.
Despite the research that is sounding the alarm all over the country and all over the world and despite the fact that an entire state, New Mexico, is trying to ban Aspartame, this dangerous substance is still being considered a “part of a healthy diet.” YIKES!
Are you looking for an alternative to aspartame? Try xylitol sweetener or stevia sweetener. And if you think you aspartame has effected your health you may want to consider an aspartame detox!
Stevia has many helpful properties.
It has:
~ No sugar and no calories.
~ Anti-inflammatory effects.
~ Is 100 percent naturally derived.
~ 250 to 300 times the sweetness of sugar.
~ Heat stability to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit).
~ No fermentation properties.
~ Flavor-enhancing qualities.
~ Plaque-retardant and Anti-caries properties to help prevent cavities.
~ Been recommended for diabetics because it does not spike insulin.
~ Anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.
~ Been shown to lower blood pressure in those with hypertension.
Over 100 phytochemicals have been discovered in Stevia, and it is rich in terpenes and flavonoids. Besides having been in use for hundreds of years, extensive testing in animals has demonstrated no harmful effects. Its main sweet chemical, stevioside, has been found to be nontoxic in acute toxicity studies with rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds. It also has been shown that it does not cause cellular changes nor affect fertility. The natural stevia leaf also has been found to be nontoxic and has no mutagenic activity.
Stevia can be used in cooking and as a tabletop sweetener.
