Reviewing the signs and symptoms to determine if you have Candida Albicans yeast infection Overgrowth.

Candida Albicans yeast infection Overgrowth, Candida Overgrowth (CO) symptoms are so numerous and seemingly unrelated that they can be confusing to both doctor and patient. The majority of people who have CO do not realize they have it until they become seriously ill. Why? Because candida yeast not only steals nutrients from the food that you eat, it then poisons the tissues with waste material containing over 75 known toxins. Candida albicans is linked, directly or indirectly, to the following list of conditions and symptoms. A “symptom” is an outward sign that points to a deeper problem.

~ Self Test: http://www.nationalcandidacenter.com/candida-self-exams/ … Spit Test.
The best time to do this test is the first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up. Before you rinse, spit, or put anything in your mouth, go get a glass of water (in a clear glass). Now build up a bunch of saliva (just mouth saliva, do not cough up anything) and spit it into the glass of water. Observe what happens.
~
My Body Fluids The saliva will float. That is OK and normal. If within 15 minutes you see thin projections extending downward into the water, it is a positive sign for candida. The projections may look like hair, or small strings, like a jelly fish or spider legs, moving down into the water from the saliva floating on the top. Other positive indications might be very “cloudy” saliva that will sink to the bottom of the glass within a few minutes or particles that slowly sink or suspend below the saliva glob. What you are seeing are colonies of yeast which band together to form the strings.

LEAKY GUT ~ CO Dysbiosis
http://www.drdooley.com/gut-dysbiosis-therapy.php
It is estimated that over 30 million people in the U.S, predominantly women, suffer from the multiple effects of an imbalance in the gastrointestinal system.
The gut has three primary functions:
~ Digestion of foods and conversion into vitamins
~ Absorption of nutrients
~ Prevention of toxins and pathogens from entering the body
~
When the Gut Is Healthy
Approximately 500 species of bacteria, as well as many species of yeast and other organisms, live in the human gastrointestinal tract and make up the “gut flora.” These “friendly” bacteria are vital for good digestion and the health of the intestines in general, and mostly have names beginning with “Lactobacillus” or “Bifidobacteria,” which denotes the class of bacteria they belong to. You may have noticed food products like yogurt and acidophilus milk that contain these bacteria. It is becoming more common for them to be added, just as vitamins and minerals are frequently added to breakfast cereals, for example.
~
When the gut flora is in a healthy balance it is called “orthobiosis,” which is a term introduced in the early 1900s by the great microbiologist Elie Metchnikoff. When our gut is out of balance we are said to have “dysbiosis.” Metchnikoff thought dysbiosis so concerning that he coined the expression “Death begins in the GUT!”
~
What Can Go Wrong?
Not all of the hundreds of species of organisms that make up the gut flora are “friendly.” There are also a number of organisms that don’t provide the body with any benefits, or do so only when their numbers are kept low by competing friendly bacteria. Such microorganisms include coliform bacteria (E.coli, etc.), yeasts/fungus, parasites, and bacteroides.
~
Illness can occur when the amount of friendly bacteria is reduced and the other organisms are able to increase their numbers and become the majority. There are a number of factors that can disrupt the balance of organisms in the intestines and lead to overgrowth of the less desirable species.
The most important factors are:
~ Antibiotic use (abuse)
~ Use of the birth control pill
~ Use of other hormones, especially immunosuppressants like steroids
~ Diet, especially one high in sugar
~ Alcohol
~ Stress
~
Conditions often caused by dysbiosis include Irritable Bowel Syndrome, acne, food allergies, Chronic Fatigue and depression. But you can help repopulate the good bacteria by eating foods that contain natural, healthy bacterias, including yogurt and acidophilus milk. You also can take an acidophilus supplement and something called Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), which is a plant-based supplement that serves as a “super food” for these good bacteria.
~
Gut dysbiosis can lead to changes in the lining of the bowel that increases the permeability of the intestine, resulting in leaky gut syndrome.
~
Symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome / Intestinal Permeability
Symptoms include:

abdominal pain ~ asthma ~ chronic joint pain ~ chronic muscle pain ~ confusion ~ fuzzy or foggy thinking ~ gas ~ indigestion ~ mood swings ~ nervousness ~ poor immunity ~ recurrent vaginal infections ~ skin rashes ~ diarrhea ~ bed-wetting ~ recurrent bladder infections ~ poor memory ~ shortness of breath ~ constipation ~ bloating ~ aggressive behavior ~ anxiety ~ poor libido ~ fatigue ~ and just feeling “toxic”.
~
Leaky gut syndrome is associated with the following conditions:
Bloating and weight gain ~ Chronic fatigue syndrome ~ Celiac disease ~ Crohn’s disease ~ Environmental illness ~ Hives ~ Acne ~ Allergies ~ Inflammatory joint disease / arthritis ~ Intestinal infections ~ Pancreatic insufficiency ~ Ulcerative colitis ~ Giardia ~ Eczema ~ Psoriasis ~ Food allergies and sensitivities ~ Liver dysfunction ~ Rheumatoid arthritis ~ Irritable bowel syndrome
~
Candidiasis
When the natural yeast or fungi found in the body grows out of control, it can result in a condition called Candidiasis, an infection caused by a species of Candida fungi, especially Candida albicans. These fungi are found almost everywhere in the environment, and some may live harmlessly along with the abundant “native” species of bacteria that normally colonize the mouth, gastrointestinal tract and vagina. The growth of Candida is usually controlled by the presence of the native bacteria and by the body’s immune defenses. If the population of native bacteria is decreased, especially by antibiotics, or if the immune defenses are weakened by illness malnutrition, or certain medications (corticosteroids or anticancer drugs), Candida fungi can multiply enough to cause symptoms by spewing many toxins into the bloodstream and liver. It can affect many different parts of the body, causing either localized infections or overwhelming illness, depending on the patient and his or her underlying health.
~
Candidiasis can usually be found in exposed and most part of the body, such as the mouth and throat (called thrush), the vagina (usually called a yeast infection), and in the case of children, as diaper rash. Candidiasis can overwhelm the whole body, and in some people can result in not only stomach distress such as bloating and gas, but also in fatigue, depression, anxiety, skin eruptions, and immune system malfunction.

New research – Morgellons proven to be a real disease
~
Thursday, August 16, 2012 by: Dr. Gregory Damato
~
(NaturalNews) Morgellons Disease is characterized by bizarre symptomology such as experiencing biting sensations on the skin, painful skin eruptions, strange fibers growing from the skin, unexplained body pain and neurological deficits.
~
It is estimated that millions of people worldwide suffer from this unexplained affliction with the medical community quick to dismiss their symptoms as ‘delusional parasitosis’ or ‘delusional infestation’ and hence believe it’s all in their heads. Medical authorities often times blame the Morgellons sufferers for inflicting the wounds on themselves and believe the fibers simply emanate from clothing.
~
After thousands of complaints to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in January of 2008, the CDC paid researchers over $300,000 to conduct a 3-year study on Morgellons. The researchers erroneously concluded that “No common underlying medical condition or infectious source was identified, similar to more commonly recognized conditions such as delusional infestation” and hence indirectly concluded that Morgellons was not a disease and was in fact a psychological disorder. The CDC agreed and stated, “This comprehensive study of an unexplained apparent dermopathy demonstrated no infectious cause and no evidence of an environmental link”.
~
Morgellons has historically been linked to genetically modified organisms (GMOs; a specific bacteria known as Agrobacterium), Lyme Disease, immune weakness and environmental toxicity.
~
According to researchers at the State University of New York, “Agrobacterium represents a universal gene and protein transfer machine” and hence laboratory (genetically modified) creations now have the ability to alter the DNA of humans (4). Hence, agrobacterium allows horizontal transfer of DNA and would be a likely culprit in the creation of Morgellons although other environmental factors appear to also be involved.
~
Following up from the CDC study, in January of 2012, new independent research just published in the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Research found that Morgellons is in fact a real disease (8). Based on extensive physical, microscopic and fluorescence examination of skin, hair, tissues, calluses, etc. of three Morgellons sufferers, the researchers reported several interesting findings:
~
– Abnormal functioning of the follicular keratinocytes (genetic alterations in DNA caused hair follicles and skin to malfunction).
– Fibers, which under the microscope (100x), had a unique floral arrangement and colors of blue, red, white, green and some brightly fluorescent.
– Some fibers “appeared as root-like growths.”
– For the first time, demonstrated that Morgellons fibers contain keratin (structural protein which makes up the outer layer of the skin) which means the fibers were created within the body.
– Alterations in keratinocyte (skin) expression was most likely due to spirochetal infection from Lyme Disease.
~
The filaments from the Morgellons patients were confirmed to contain keratin via immunohistological staining with antibodies specific for human keratins. This means that fibers present in the subjects were found to be biological in origin and are produced by keratinocytes (proteins in the outer layer of skin) and grew out of the body.
~
These findings are consistent with the 2012 CDC publication stating that over 80 percent of non-biopsy material taken from patients had a protein composition.
~
The researchers concluded that the fibers “are clearly biological in nature and are not implanted textile fibers.” It may be probable to assume that since these fibers under the microscope which contain floral and root-like structures that the origin may be via a cross contamination of DNA from plants and humans by way of GMOs.
~
This study opens the door for future research which is desperately needed in the environmental and epigenetic causes of Morgellons Disease with Lyme Disease and GMOs being the likely areas of interest.

MERCURY POISONING SYMPTOMS
~ ~ ~
http://www.life123.com/health/first-aid/food-poisoning/mercury-poisoning-symptoms.shtml
~
By: Aysha Schurman
Mercury poisoning symptoms are rather hard to ignore. The poison will affect the entire body, not just a single area. The exact symptoms can change from person to person, but left untreated, severe mercury poisoning can be deadly.
~
What Is Mercury?
Mercury is a naturally occurring metal that exists all around us. It can be highly dangerous in large quantities and poisonous to most living organisms. Mercury can be found in the air, water and soil. It is silver colored, but odorless and tasteless. There are three forms of mercury that can cause poisoning: elemental, inorganic and organic.
~
Mercury Poisoning Symptoms
In large quantities, mercury is deadly. It not only causes many severe symptoms, it can compromise the immune system. So in addition to symptoms from the poisoning, you can contract other diseases and other symptoms due to the mercury poisoning. This sometimes makes mercury poisoning hard to identify and treat.
What mercury poisoning symptoms you present can depend entirely on what type of mercury you were exposed to. Symptoms can range from loss of teeth, hives or fever to rashes, skin lesions or a metallic taste.
~
Psychological disturbances: ~ mood swings ~ anxiety ~ anger ~ depression ~ memory loss ~ irritability
Neurological disturbances: ~ dizziness ~ twitching ~ headaches ~ tremors
Gastrointestinal disturbances: ~ diarrhea ~ stomach cramps ~ other gastrointestinal problems
Respiratory disturbances: ~ emphysema ~ shallow breathing ~ a constant cough
Cardiovascular disturbances: ~ chest pains ~ weak pulse ~ an irregular heartbeat
Basic sense disturbances: ~ impaired vision ~ speech ~ hearing ~ coordination
Oral disturbances: ~ loss of teeth ~ gum discoloration ~ gum bleeding ~ a metallic taste
~
Mercury Poisoning Treatment
The exact treatment needed for mercury poisoning depends on the type of mercury you are exposed to. At the very least you will need to visit your doctor if you suspect you have mercury poisoning. It’s likely you will be admitted to the hospital for several different treatments and medications if the mercury poisoning is anything other than very minor.

QUOTES:
“Mercury poisoning is impaired oxidation. It’s like having an invisible cord around your neck that’s strangling you, but you can’t feel that the cord is there. (The strangulations) is biochemical, but the principal is the same: mercury reduces the amount of oxygen that you get.”
Dr. Alfred Zamm, M.D., F.A.C.P. “…
~
“Slow healing” is in part a result of zinc deficiency. Mercury interferes with zinc metabolism.”
“Chronic fatigue” is a result of insufficient oxygen to the cells. Mercury interferes with the ability of hemoglobin to transport oxygen” and “…..ringing in the ears” is related to manganese deficiency. Mercury interferes with manganese metabolism.”
It’s All In Your Head, by Hal A. Huggins, DDS
~
“Mercury is associated with 258 different symptoms and copper with over 100. Almost all my patients who had their mercury-based fillings removed show moderate to dramatic improvement in their health in usually less than one month.”
Dr. David J. Nickel, O.M.D., L.Ac of Santa Monica California (from Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Environmental Illness, by Burton Goldberg.
~
“Research has demonstrated that the body’s tissues – especially in the brain, kidneys, jaw, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and liver -absorb and store mercury.”
Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Environmental Illness, by Burton Goldberg
~
“After he underwent a root canal at the age of 15, Earl suffered severe fatigue and anxiety. At 28, he had a nervous breakdown. At the age of 32, suffering from fatigue, anger, anxiety, back problems, low blood sugar, nervousness, ringing in his ears, concentration loss, and prematurely graying hair, he consulted acupuncturist. Dr. David J. Nickel, O.M.D., L.Ac. of Santa Monica, California performed a mercury vapor analysis on Earl’s teeth and found that the level of toxic fumes from Earl’s six mercury amalgam fillings was 42 times higher than the Environmental Protection Agency’s maximum allowable limit.
He was put on supplements and there was significant improvement in his metabolic rate and blood sugar levels, he had all six mercury amalgams and his root canal tooth removed. Earl said, “I don’t remember when I have ever felt so good.”

Mercury poisoning: Are you affected?
~
FACTS:
Mercury amalgams (silver fillings)
* Most mercury amalgams are composed of approximately 50% mercury, 35% silver and 15% tin, copper and/or zinc. * Mercury is the major ingredient amounting to about one-half gram per amalgam. In the words of Professor Boyd Haley of the University of Kentucky, that is a “colossal” amount of mercury in scientific terms—as much, in fact, as is in a thermometer. A teenager with six fillings has six mercury thermometers worth of mercury in his or her mouth.
~
It should be noted that the more copper present in the amalgam, the more mercury vapor is released proportionally.
• Mercury atoms are continually released into the mouth with 80% absorbed by the lungs.
• Each and every amalgam daily releases on the order of 10 micrograms of mercury into the body (i.e. 3,000,000,000,000,000 mercury atoms per day).
• More than 2/3 of the excretable mercury in humans is derived from amalgams.
• People exposed to mercury on a sustained basis are at risk of lowered fertility.
• Mercury crosses the maternal placenta into the tissue of a developing fetus.
• Mercury immediately and continually challenges kidney function.
• Mercury can enhance the prevalence of multiple antibiotic resistant intestinal bacteria.
• Dentists, who collectively use 300 metric tons of mercury in amalgams each year and who often have two to five times the typical concentration of mercury in their urine, experience subtle neural and behavioral anomalies. 2,3
~
Vaccines
A very controversial source of mercury is vaccines, second only to mercury amalgams in terms of primary sources of mercury toxicity. Thimerosal (49.6% ethyl mercury) has been used as a preservative and adjuvant in most vaccines since 1931. After the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) went into effect in October 1,1988, citizens who were injured by a vaccine or vaccines could not sue the manufacturer directly but had to first file a claim with VICP.
~

GLUTEN INTOLERANCE
~
PCOS Lady:
Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Disease can be wicked to and in you… Three sets of symptoms are listed for you with the sites… The symptoms overlap other medical conditions… Headaches may be explained by being tested for one of these conditions…
~ I stress everyone be tested for Celiac Disease to know…
~
FACT: Most doctors can not draw a diagnosis from all your symptoms! They jump to diagnose you on a few only, hence a misdiagnosis!
FACT: Most doctors can not read your blood tests as a whole, only a few results they understand together…
~ I suggest you see an Endocrinologist, who specializes on internal chemistry, etc… (especially Diabetes)
~
SYMPTOMS COUNT! ~ All your symptoms… ~ Keep track of them… ~ It is your life!
~
Gluten Intolerance Symptoms – How Do You Know If Gluten Is Making You Sick?
~
* What are gluten intolerance symptoms?
* Are people with gluten intolerance just fussy eaters with a new excuse for their picky food habits?
~
Research shows that gluten sensitivity in some form, including celiac disease and mild gluten intolerance, affects approximately 15% of the US population. These statistics are likely to be similar in Western countries with similar health issues and dietary patterns.
~ Are you one of these people?
~ How do you recognize gluten intolerance symptoms?
~
First of all let’s * identify the difference between celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Celiac disease is an immune reaction, a severe sudden onset allergic reaction, to the protein called gluten. This is commonly found in grains such as wheat, rye, barley and oats. While celiac disease is initially an auto-immune disorder, it is also a disease of malabsorption, because essential nutrients are not absorbed. Therefore one of the most devastating symptoms of long-term undiagnosed celiac disease is malnutrition.
~
Gluten intolerance often has a slower onset than celiac disease, and may be hard to diagnose due to the broad range of symptoms and causes.
~
If you imagine a continuum of gluten intolerance symptoms, celiac disease is usually at the most extreme end with immediate autoimmune reactions. Some people with celiac disease may not have symptoms, but internally malabsorption and malnutrition can erode health over many years. Both celiac disease and gluten intolerance can be exacerbated by emotional stress, infection, surgery, pregnancy and childbirth. Every individual with some level of gluten intolerance or allergy may experience different shades of symptoms, hence the challenge for medical practitioners to diagnose.
~
So what are the specific symptoms of gluten intolerance and
celiac disease?

~
~ Weight loss or weight gain
~ Nutritional deficiencies due to malabsorption e.g. low iron levels
~ Gastro-intestinal problems (bloating, pain, gas, constipation, diarrhea)
~ Fat in the stools (due to poor digestion)
~ Aching joints
~ Depression
~ Eczema
~ Head aches
~ Exhaustion
~ Irritability and behavioural changes
~ Infertility, irregular menstrual cycle and miscarriage
~ Cramps, tingling and numbness
~ Slow infant and child growth
~ Decline in dental health
~
Undiagnosed for long periods of time, food intolerances have been found to contribute to diabetes, bowel cancer, anemia and osteoporosis.

Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity share some of the same symptoms. Although the actual damage occurs in the gastrointestinal tract, specifically in the small intestine, the symptoms manifest in many different ways and often show up throughout your entire body.
~
Gluten sensitivity and celiac disease have hundreds of symptoms; the following lists don’t contain them all, but are a good sampling:
~
* Gastrointestinal symptoms: These are some of the “classic” — although not the most common — symptoms of celiac disease:
~
~ Abdominal pain and distension
~ Acid reflux
~ Bloating
~ Constipation
~ Diarrhea
~ Gas and flatulence
~ Greasy, foul-smelling, floating stools
~ Nausea
~ Vomiting
~ Weight loss or weight gain
~
* Nongastrointestinal symptoms: Interestingly, although gluten sensitivity and celiac disease affect the gut, most people’s symptoms are not gastrointestinal in nature. This partial list includes just some of the more than 250 symptoms not centered in the digestive tract.
~
~ Fatigue and weakness (due to iron-deficiency anemia)
~ Vitamin and/or mineral deficiencies
~ Headaches (including migraines)
~ Joint/bone pain
~ Depression, irritability, listlessness, and mood disorders
~ “Fuzzy brain” or an inability to concentrate
~ Infertility
~ Abnormal menstrual cycles
~ Dental enamel deficiencies and irregularities
~ Seizures
~ Clumsiness (ataxia)
~ Nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy)
~ Respiratory problems
~ Canker sores (apthus ulcers)
~ Lactose intolerance
~ Eczema/psoriasis
~ Rosacea (a skin disorder)
~ Acne
~ Hashimoto’s disease, Sjögren’s syndrome, lupus erythematosus, and other autoimmune disorders

Why You Should Eliminate Wheat from Your Diet
http://www.kitchendaily.com/read/why-you-should-eliminate-wheat-your-diet?icid=maing-grid7|maing9|dl8|sec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D245778
~ Kitchen Daily … Why You Should Eliminate Wheat from Your Diet … Gluten, a protein composite of gliadin and glutenin found in wheat and grains, may be addictive. Perhaps this explains the uncontrollable cravings for carbs many of us experience. This news was hard for us to digest, but not nearly as hard as gluten is on our intestines.
~
Since the 1950s, when scientists began cross-breeding wheat to make it grow faster, we’ve seen a few issues arise. Wheat is not as healthy as it used to be. U.S. plant scientist, Norman Borlaug, who won the the Nobel Prize for his work in wheat hybridization may have introduced some compounds that aren’t exactly friendly to our bodies. In fact, there are proteins found in today’s wheat that scientists can’t trace back to the original plant.
~
What could this mean for you? Unfortunately, digestion issues along with a slew of potential diseases, such as celiac’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and IBS. These problems can pertain to anyone, not just to those with severe gluten reactions or celiac’s disease.

HAIR LOSS
~
Be Sociable, Share!
~
Quite a few women have asked me recently what they can do to halt and reverse the hair loss that can accompany PCOS. Not that any of the symptoms of PCOS are particularly pleasant, but the loss of head hair seems to be one of the most upsetting for many women.
~
WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS IN PCOS?
There are several hormones which comprise what we collectively call androgens: testosterone, androsteinedione, and the very potent form dihydrotestosterone (DHT) all of which are made in men’s bodies in large amounts, and also in women’s bodies but normally in quite small amounts.
~
In those who are genetically susceptible, when testosterone comes in contact with enzymes residing in the hair cell, it can be converted into DHT, the more potent androgen, which then binds with receptors deep within the hair follicle.
~
Over time, an excess build-up of this very potent form of testosterone in the follicle causes it to start shrinking, which then alters the natural resting and growth phases of the hair, resulting in some of the follicles dying off and some becoming incapable of growing or maintaining a healthy level of hair growth.
~
So basically, DHT is the ‘root’ of all evil when it comes to hair loss for the majority of women with PCOS. (Sorry I truly couldn’t help myself).
~
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO REDUCE DHT LEVELS?
As hair growth is a slow process, you will need to allow for at least 3 and maybe 6 months for any significant difference, however there are plenty of things you can do:
~
SAW PALMETTO: This medicinal herb (serenoa repens) has been shown to have antiandrogenic effects (Testosterone lowering). It acts in a similar way to the male pattern hair loss drug Propecia by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which when it interacts with testosterone in the body turns it into the far more potent form, DHT. It also blocks the receptor sites on your cell membranes that allow the absorption of DHT.
~
SPEARMINT: You can also add things like spearmint tea into your diet, it has been shown to lower testosterone levels when taken regularly.
~
AVOCADO: Blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT.
LIQUORICE & WHITE PAEONY: These herbs which are also in a chinese formula together called TJ-68 have also been shown in clinical studies to lower testosterone.
~
STINGING NETTLE, GOTU KOLA & SIBERIAN GINSENG: all act to block the formation of DHT as I think does Pygeum an african prune.
~
GREEN TEA EXTRACT: contains a very potent antioxidant polyphenol called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which inhibits 5-alpha reductase, blocking the formation of DHT. In a study on rodents, a third of those who had green tea extract added to their drinking water had significant hair regrowth.
~
NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT: Magnesium, Zinc and B6 are all very good for your hair, skin and nails and also DHT blockers. In additionally a good quality multivitamin is a good idea for everybody. The amino acids l-lysine and l-arginine also help to combat hair loss.
~
KETOCONAZOLE: There is an antifungal/antidandruff shampoo called Nizoral which contains ketoconazole, which can reduce DHT levels when used as a shampoo or in tablets, can actually reduce the amount of androgens produced. You can get a 1% shampoo over the counter at a pharmacy or a 2% one on prescription.
~
You could also try a regenerative hair oil treatment including oils such as:
~
~ Emu Oil as a Base (as it is a DHT blocker) and any of the following:
~ Sunflower (supplies more Vitamin E than any other oil) (Its strengthening and protective agents help to further nourish and condition dry or damaged hair)
~ Olive (beneficial for dry or damaged hair),
~ Basil (Useful for split ends. Stimulates scalp circulation, resulting in increased hair growth)
~ Bay (stimulates scalp and helps hair health, great old fashioned hair tonic for thinning hair)
~ Cayenne (increases circulation and stimulates growth)
~ Cedarwood (promotes hair growth)
~ Cedar & Chammomile (great tonic for fair hair)
~ Citrus Oils (all cleanse oil and increase shine)
~ Cypress (Shine and condition. Also an uplifting scent)
~ Eucalyptus (Stimulating and cleansing)
~ Grapefruit (stimulates scalp)
~ Juniper (great for toning an oily scalp)
~ Lavender (stimulates hair growth, has a lovely fragrance and is a good cleanser)
~ Lemon (treat underactive glands, promotes hair growth)
~ Lemongrass (Great for adding shine)
~ Patchouli (Deep cleansing)
~ Peppermint (promotes circulation, is stimulating and cleansing and removes shampoo buildup)
~ Rose (Shine, scent, youthfulness)
~ Rosemary (stimulates hair growth, increases volume, good for getting rid of dandruff)
~ Sage (stimulates hair growth)
~ Tea Tree (Eradicating Lice, Dandruff & Fungus. Stimulates Scalp)
~ Thyme (stimulates hair growth by deep cleansing hardened sebum)
~ Ylang-Ylang (Good for split ends, stimulates scalp increasing hair growth, soothes skin, balances sebum production)
~
Add 3 drops of each oil (choose the ones you think will help you the most but best not to use more than 7 at a time) to a base of emu oil and/or sunflower oil and/or olive oil, making sure you keep the essential oils at less than 10% – I would probably go for 2.5% – 5%. There are roughly 20 drops to one millilitre, and there are 5ml in a teaspoon. If you use 36 drops or roughly 2 ml, you would need between and 25 and 100 ml depending upon how strong you wanted to make it. I definitely recommend starting with the lower concentration until you see how sensitive your scalp is.
~
You can also add essential oils to your existing shampoo or conditioner. I add 10 drops of tea tree oil to my shampoo and rinse my hair with vinegar instead of using conditioner. (I use brown, but apple cider vinegar, live with the ‘mother’ such as Braggs is best). This alters the pH of your hair and scalp and prevents yeasts and fungal infections from taking up residence. It also makes your hair REALLY silky smooth. I have long, thick, curly hair (currently down to my tailbone) and find that rinsing with vinegar makes it much easier to brush and detangle and reduces the amount of hair you shed each time you wash. I have found it to be better than conditioner, even the expensive salon brands.

PCOS Lady:
Many PCOS ladies will also have a thyroid issue… I have posted the symptoms and info to help you tell the differences and be better informed…
~
Seeing an endocrinologist is your best choice of doctors. Your doctor may tell you your thyroid was fine after a TSH only. Some people see multiple doctors before being told they have a thyroid problem. You may be misdiagnosed with depression or Diabetes or not diagnosed with anything!
~ Keeping a list of your symptoms will help in getting diagnosed properly…
~ Be sure your doctor addresses all your concerns and symptoms…

~
Interesting to know the symptoms and what lowers testosterone…
~
Just read from a Dr Oz show women in later years are best to have testosterone levels of 50 – 80, which is that of a woman in her 30’s…
~
http://www.ehow.com/facts_4962570_causes-high-testosterone-women_.html
~
SYMPTOMS OF HIGH TESTOSTERONE IN WOMEN
~
High testosterone symptoms include hair loss, hirsutism (unwanted male-pattern hair growth), unexplained rapid weight gain, virilization, acne, aggressiveness, irritability and missed menstrual cycles. Decreased breast size and a deepening of the voice will occur along with a coarsening of the skin.
~
CAUSES: HORMONAL IMBALANCES
~
The main causes of high testosterone in females are hormonal imbalances that can happen at any age, and often sneak up gradually, with the 30s being the predominant time for things to get worse.
~
COMMON TESTOSTERONE INCREASING DISEASES
~
Adrenal gland disorders and ovarian problems, often caused by other hormonal imbalances, create an over-abundance of testosterone. The most common testosterone-increasing disease is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Diabetes can also lead to these endocrine upsets.
~
RARER DISORDERS THAT CAUSE HIGH TESTOSTERONE
~
Other disorders that cause high testosterone in women include acromegaly, adrenal neoplasm disorders, Conn’s syndrome, Cushing’s syndrome, dwarfism, gigantism or multiple endocrine neoplasm 1 and 2. An androgen-producing adrenal or ovarian tumor can lead to high levels of testosterone, as can congenital adrenal hyperplasia and thyroid disorders in general.

~
SOLUTIONS FOR HIGH TESTOSTERONE IN WOMEN
~
By Juliana Robertson, eHow Contributor
Testosterone is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands of women. High testosterone levels in women tend to cause a variety of issues. Elevated levels of this male synonymous hormone can cause excessive facial hair, increased muscle mass, waistline body fat and adult onset acne. The most common cause of this testosterone increase in women is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This disorder causes multiple cysts like follicles to accumulate in the ovaries. The ovary begins to produce and secrete high levels of testosterone.
~
LIFESTYLE CHANGES
~
Implementing changes to your lifestyle can effectively reduce high testosterone levels. Low risk changes include reducing stress levels and following a healthy eating regimen. Women with testosterone imbalances have successfully lost weight through following a low carbohydrate/diabetic eating plan. Adding fruit, salad, fish, poultry and nuts to your diet can help to reduce testosterone levels. Consuming fried, sugary and oily foods contribute to testosterone increases and weight gain. Practicing stress reduction techniques, like yoga and meditation, can be extremely beneficial. Combining these practices with regular exercise and a balanced diet will help to improve your overall quality of health.
~
NATURAL REMEDIES
~
Alternative medicine is an effective way to treat elevated testosterone levels safely and naturally. This approach involves little to no risk, with various therapies utilized for treatment. Herbal remedies effectively treat testosterone imbalances at its source. These options are easy to follow, and cost effective. Two types used for treatment are Phytoestrogenic and Non estrogenic herbs. Phytoestrogenic herbs (ex: black cohosh) contain plant manufactured estrogen. They help to alleviate imbalances through introducing additional hormones within the body. Non estrogenic herbs (ex: macafem) do not contain any estrogen properties. They stimulate natural hormonal production by nourishing endocrine and pituitary glands. They balance testosterone naturally by stimulating the body to produce its own hormones.

Mold Exposure Symptoms

Posted in MOLD tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 10:28 pm by PCOSLady

PCOS Lady:
Remember: If you see mold of any type on the outside of fruits and vegetables “it” is already through it! I see soft spots, greenish spots, black spots, white spots and at times fuzz… Flies are a good indicater to spoilage…

MOLD EXPOSURE SYMPTOMS
~
Symptoms of Fungal Exposure (Mycotoxicosis)
~
Susan Lillard-Roberts
~
Mold toxicity is often the end result with constant exposure to mold of a toxic substance. A common misconception among allergists who are untrained in this type of toxicity levels in humans, which is technically not their area of expertise unless they have trained specifically in environmental medicine with their background in immunology, is to do general allergen testing. Most tests usually result in an unequivocal result, a 2+ or less. This induces some physicians to order allergy shots, regardless. These shots are absolutely worthless (and could possibly be harmful) to a person who has been heavily exposed to these mycotoxins as they are already in a state of toxicity. If anything, this could exacerbate the problem. Because many doctors are not trained in this field, they may try to “guess” at a diagnosis.
~
In laymen’s terms, molds produce mycotoxins. These substances, although unseen by the naked eye, are ingested and then enter the body through the skin, mucous and airways. Once ingested, mold has the requirements to colonize and spread. In doing this, it can compromise the immune system and damage everyday processes of the body. Mold and yeast are interchangeable only in their dimorphic state, which is often a big misconception, although both are fungi. There has been a theory of a connection between Autism Spectrum Disorder onset and Candida Albicans in the body. New studies are being conducted during the first quarter of 2006. Updates will follow.
~
Fungi, which include yeasts, moulds, smuts and mushrooms, are responsible for causing four types of mycotic (fungal) disease:
~
1. Hypersensitivity – an allergic reaction to moulds and spores;
2. Mycotoxicosis – poisoning by food products contaminated by fungi
3. Mycetismus – the ingestion of preformed toxin (toadstool poisoning)
4. Infection (systemic) – (Mycotoxicosis; the subject below)
~
The following are a list of the most common symptoms of fungal exposure (bear in mind, people never fit all of below criteria). Most people with some forms of Mycotoxicosis meet at least 8 (recent symptoms) of the following criteria:
~
~ Fibromyalgia/mps (and several correlated symptoms)
~ Respiratory distress, coughing, sneezing, sinusitis
~ Difficulty swallowing, choking, spitting up (vomiting) mucous
~ Hypersensitivity pneumonitis
~ Burning in the throat and lungs (similar to acid reflux and often misdiagnosed as such)
~ Asthmatic signs; wheezing, shortness in breath, coughing, burning in lungs, etc.
~ Irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, diarrhea, sharp abdominal pains, stomach lesions
~ Bladder, liver, spleen, or kidney pain
~ Dark or painful urine
~ Dirt-like taste in mouth, coated tongue
~ Food allergies/leaky gut syndrome/altered immunity
~ Memory loss; brain fog, slurred speech, occasionally leading to dementia
~ Vision problems
~ Swollen lymph nodes
~ Large boils on neck (often a sign of anaphylaxis)
~ Yellowing of nails, ridges, or white marks under nail
~ Thyroid irregularities, sometimes leading to complete dysfunction; adrenal problems
~ Headaches
~ Anxiety/depression, heart palpitations – confusion, PTSD
~ Extreme blood pressure, cholesterol, or triglycerides irregularities
~ Ringing in ears, balance problems (very common), dizziness, loss of hearing (aspergillus niger)
~ Chronic fatigue (also included under this classification directional confusion)
~ Intermittent face flushing; almost always systemic, Called the Mylar Flush (neurological))
~ Night head sweats, and drooling while sleeping, profuse sweating
~ Multiple chemical sensitivity; only upon exposure to Stachybotrys and Chaetomium
~ Nose bleeds (stachybotrys)
~ Bruising/scarring easily; rash or hives, bloody lesions all over the skin (Often systemic, see images; skin)
~ Reproductive system complications; infertility, changes in menstrual cycles, miscarriage
~ Sudden weight changes (Detoxifier genotypes tend to gain weight, non-detoxifier genotypes tend to lose weight)
~ Cancer
~ Hair loss, very brittle nails, temporary loss of fingerprints (in rare cases)
~ Joint/muscle stiffness and pain
~ Irregular heart beat/heart attack
~ Seizures, inadvertent body jerking, twitching, inadvertent facial movements or numbness in face
~ Hypersensitivity when re-exposed to molds, which can lead to anaphylaxis
~ Anaphylaxis upon re-exposure to mycotoxin producing molds
~ Death, in extreme cases
~
Note: despite inaccurate and misleading reports by theorists regarding immuno-compromised, babies, and the elderly being more susceptible, this is a big misconception as exposure to the T-2 mycotoxins found in many types of current indoor molds will poison anyone in time; no one is immune. The reason for this conflicting information is that studies have never been conducted to prove this. If so called experts are going to make such a broad and misleading statement, they may as well say that this same category of people is more susceptible to SARS, West Nile Virus, AIDS, and cancer. The T-2 mycotoxins found in many of these molds are the exact same T-2 mycotoxins that have killed widespread groups of innocent people with Yellow Rain, a biological warfare agent.
~
Different mold species can have varying health effects, but it is important to remember that any excessive mold growth needs to be taken care of, regardless of the species. Any excessive mold growth can lead to increased allergies, toxicity, and house/building structural problems.

Symptoms:
~
~ anemia – anemia means a reduced number of red blood cells in the blood and is revealed on screening blood work as a reduced number of red blood cells (reduced RBC count and/or reduced hematocrit) In this type of anemia, the red blood cells are often microcytic (meaning the cells are smaller, which shows on bloodwork as a reduced “MCV”) and/or hypo chromic (meaning the cells have low hemoglobin content per cell, which shows on bloodwork as a low “MCHC” or “MCH”) Often the MCV and MCH/MCHC values begin to fall before the actual anemia begins to develop; these changes represent the body’s final attempts to continue producing red blood cells without an adequate supply of iron.
~ fatigue
~ poor physical endurance
~ excessive sleepiness
~ pale skin of face or hands, pale or bluish fingernails, pale inner eyelids
~ sore, inflamed tongue
~ lightheadedness or dizziness
~ feeling cold, easily chilled
~ irritability
~ depression, unhappiness or withdrawal
~ poor concentration and/or attention span
~ nervousness or fearfulness
~ poor coordination
~ itching, localized or generalized
~ shortness of breath
~ heavy menstrual flow
~ menstrual cramps
~ racing heart or heart skipping beats
~ poor appetite
~ poor nails: brittle, thin, flattened, ridged, or spoon-shaped
~ hair loss
~ frequent infections
~ desire to chew ice, sunflower seeds, raw noodles etc. or to eat inedible substances such as paint, dirt, or paper
~ inadequate response to thyroid hormone therapy
~ whites of eyes can have a blue hue

Hypopituitarism Pituitary Insufficiency

Hypopituitarism Pituitary Insufficiency
~
Pituitary insufficiency post is important since many people are having radiation, brain surgery, etc… today… You may not be told of the long after effects that can occur in you!
~ … My close friend had a deadly cancer removed from his sinus cavity (under eye) a few years ago… The fatigue and pituitary symptoms started two years ago… The symptoms are now progressing real quick! He was up 24/7 now he just wants or has to sleep like 24/7…
~
Hypopituitarism
~
Pituitary Insufficiency
~
Hypopituitarism is a condition in which the pituitary gland does not produce normal amounts of some or all of its hormones.
~
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
~
The pituitary gland is a small structure that is located just below the brain. It is attached by a stalk to the hypothalamus, the area of the brain that controls its function.
~
The hormones released by the pituitary gland (and their functions) are:
~
~ Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) — stimulates the adrenal gland to release cortisol; cortisol helps to maintain blood pressure and blood sugar
~ Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) — controls water loss by the kidneys
~ Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) — controls sexual function and fertility in males and females
~ Growth hormone (GH) — stimulates growth of tissues and bone
~ Luteinizing hormone (LH) — controls sexual function and fertility in males and females
~ Oxytocin — stimulates the uterus to contract during labor and the breasts to release milk
~ Prolactin — stimulates female breast development and milk production
~ Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) — stimulates the thyroid gland to release hormones that affect the body’s metabolism
~
In hypopituitarism, there is a lack of one or more pituitary hormones. Lack of the hormone leads to loss of function in the gland or organ that it controls. For example, no TSH leads to loss of function in the thyroid gland.
~
Hypopituitarism may be caused by:
~
~ Brain surgery
~ Brain tumor
~ Head trauma
~ Infections of the brain and the tissues that support the brain
~ Radiation
~ Stroke
~ Subarachnoid hemorrhage (from a burst aneurysm)
~ Tumors of the pituitary gland or hypothalamus
~
Occasionally, hypopituitarism is due to uncommon immune system or metabolic diseases, such as:
~
~ Hemochromatosis
~ Histiocytosis X
~ Lymphocytic hypophysitis
~ Sarcoidosis
~
Hypopituitarism is also a rare complication after pregnancy, a condition called Sheehan’s syndrome.
~
Symptoms
~
~ Abdominal pain
~ Decreased appetite
~ Decreased sexual interest (in men)
~ Failure to release milk (in women)
~ Fatigue
~ Headache
~ Infertility (in women)
~ Lack of sex drive (in women)
~ Loss of armpit or pubic hair
~ Loss of body or facial hair (in men)
~ Low blood pressure
~ Sensitivity to cold
~ Short height (less than 5 feet) if onset is during a growth period
~ Slowed growth and sexual development (in children)
~ Stopping of menstrual periods (in women)
~ Vision problems
~ Weakness
~ Weight loss
~
Note: Symptoms may develop slowly and may vary greatly, depending upon:

~
~ The number of hormones that are missing and the organs they affect
~ The severity of the disorder
~
Other symptoms that may occur with this disease:
~
~ Face swelling
~ Hair loss
~ Hoarseness or changing voice
~ Joint stiffness
~ Weight gain (unintentional)
~
Signs and tests
~
To diagnose hypopituitarism, there must be low hormone levels due to a problem with the pituitary gland. The diagnosis must also rule out diseases of the organ that is affected by this hormone.
~
Tests include:
~
~ Brain CT scan
~ Pituitary MRI
~ Serum ACTH
~ Serum cortisol
~ Serum estradiol (estrogen)
~ Serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
~ Serum insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1)
~ Serum luteinizing hormone (LH)
~ Serum testosterone level
~ Serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
~ Thyroid hormone (T4)
~
Levels of a pituitary hormone may be high in the bloodstream if you have a pituitary tumor that is producing too much of that hormone. The tumor may crush other cells of the pituitary, leading to low levels of other hormones.
